VRPhix

VRPhix is a digitalization that helps amputees suffering from phantom pains. VRPhix is based upon the research by Vilayaner S. Ramachandran and is a digitalization of his mirror box therapy by making use of the Oculus Rift and the original Kinect.

mirror box therapy works by mirroring the healthy side of the body, to give an illusion that the other side is healthy, the visual representation causes the brain to think that the limb is still attached which should reduce the pain. Right now we use the Kinect, but we plan on moving on to a motion capture suit that allows us for more accurate readings and works better for people that miss a limb.
